Dr. Ranya Habash

Dr. Ranya Habash is the President of the Palm Beach County Ophthalmology Society and was recently named as a Board Member for the Florida Society of Ophthalmology.  Dr. Habash also holds prestigious leadership positions on the Steering Committee for the Eye Physicians of Florida ophthalmology network, the Surgical/Anesthesia Committee for West Boca Medical Center, and the Advisory Committee for Blue Cross/Blue Shield.  Furthermore, she is one of only a handful of ophthalmologists who have been invited to speak at the American Academy of Ophthalmology’s National Convention.

Dr. Habash completed her ophthalmology residency at Texas Tech University Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences, where she was elected President of all medical departments at Texas Tech and worked closely with the hospital administration as their representative.  Prior to medical school, she graduated with honors from Wake Forest University, then returned to her home state to receive her medical degree from West Virginia University School of Medicine, where she served as President of her medical school class.  She also held the title of National President for the American College of International Physicians Youth Organization.

On a more personal note, Dr. Habash and her husband/partner Dr. Brent Bellotte attended medical school together, and were married upon graduation. They continued their residency training together, having the honor of being the first couple in the history of the national ophthalmology matching process to receive acceptance at the same institution at the same time. As the former captain of the Wake Forest University Club Tennis Team, Dr. Habash is an avid tennis player and athlete. She is also accomplished in classical piano and performing arts, having won various awards for her talent.
